What is E-commerce?

A consumer visits Amazon.com using a smartphone, selects a book, pays with a stored card, and receives the book by mail. Each step is mediated by Internet, Web, and mobile technologies, and an exchange of value (payment) crosses the consumer-to-merchant boundary.
